I offer precision marimba tuning, using an electric sander and a digital tuner.  Most often, I tune instruments to specifications set by Dumisani Maraire, but I can also tune to straight A-440.  I have some familiarity with the tendencies of African hardwoods to become either flat or sharp, over time, in the humid east Hawai`i environment, so can slightly “over-tune” your instrument so the tuning job lasts longer.

         

I can also overhaul your instrument, including structural repairs, replacement of eye screws/note rubber, and re-finishing of notes.

My basic rate for any of this work is $60/hr.  A typical tuning takes me 2 hours.
